Ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation in the lining of the large intestine. The inflammation can affect any part of the lining of the colon, including the cecum, ascending colon and transverse colon.
The most common symptoms include diarrhea, cramping, rectal bleeding and bloating.
In some cases, ulcerative colitis can lead to colorectal cancer or Crohn’s disease.
