Testimonials

Urolithiasis

Urolithiasis is a medical condition in which a kidney stone develops in the urinary tract. It can be caused by dehydration, most commonly due to long-term vomiting or diarrhea. The most common types of stones include calcium oxalate, struvite and uric acid.Stone formation occurs when there are too many minerals called alkaline salts in your urine, or if you don’t have enough fluid or salt in your blood chemistry. The body does this to maintain acid balance by flushing particles before they form stones in the kidneys.

Diagnosis of urolithiasis

Urolithiasis is diagnosed by examining the urine, examining the results of a kidney stone test and x-rays. X-rays may help see if the stone is moving or changing position, or if it’s changing shape.

Treatment of urolithiasis

Urolithiasis treatment is surgery, sometimes with an implant or a catheter. Surgery may be necessary if the stone is large and cannot pass by itself; requiring one to remove it surgically can often be the only option.
