Meningioma of brain
Meningioma of brain is a type of brain tumor that occurs when the meninges, the tissue that covers the brain and protects it from injury, become infected. Meningiomas are often benign (not cancerous).
The most common symptom of meningioma is headaches or seizures, however, many people don’t experience symptoms until long after the tumor has grown large enough to block circulation through their brain.
Diagnosis of meningioma of brain
There are several different methods for diagnosing meningiomas: computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and biopsy. MRI is an excellent tool for diagnosing meningiomas because it allows doctors to see details inside your head without having to remove any tissue. It also gives them an idea how far along it has progressed in its growth phase this information can help determine whether surgery is necessary or not.
Treatment of meningioma of brain
Surgical resection is the main treatment for meningioma. This involves removing the tumor, which can be achieved either by removing it entirely or by relieving obstruction to normal blood flow.
Costs for the treatment of meningioma of brain in Germany
The average cost of treating this type of tumor in Germany is about €40.000. That includes everything from diagnosis and treatment up to follow-up care.
