Knee arthritis
Knee arthritis is the inflammation and degeneration of the synovial cartilage that cushions bones in the knee joint. The cartilage breaks down from wear and tear over time, which can lead to pain – especially after activity.
Cartilage is a smooth slippery tissue that cushions bones while they move against each other. As the cartilage thins and wears away, bone rubs against bone resulting in pain.
Diagnosis of knee arthritis
Your doctor will first ask you about your symptoms, your medical history and family history. He or she may then try to determine if any of your joints are stiff or painful when they are moved. This can help distinguish between different types of arthritis. If the diagnosis is unclear, your doctor may order X-rays, MRIs or other imaging tests.
Treatment of knee arthritis
There are several different types of treatments that may be used to treat knee arthritis. These include: pain medications, physical therapy and exercise, bracing or splints, and joint replacement surgery.
Costs for the treatment of knee arthritis in Germany
The cost of Knee arthritis Treatment in Germany ranges from €9.500 – €18.500.
