Under the leadership of neurosurgeons Prof. Dr. Thomas Gasser and Dr. Axel Jung, the Center for Neurosurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology Bonn treats a wide range of diseases of the brain, spinal cord, spine, vessels, and peripheral nerves. The use of state-of-the-art therapeutic procedures for the treatment of pain and movement disorders (spinal cord stimulation – SCS, deep brain stimulation) is a focus of their medical practice. In addition, they specialize in the surgical and microsurgical treatment of spinal and brain diseases. The scientific career of Prof. Dr. Gasser focuses on the use of complex imaging techniques in neurosurgery. In 2005, he was awarded the International Exchange Grant from the German and Japanese Societies of Neurosurgery, leading to a research stay at the Tokyo Women’s Medical University. He is the author and co-author of more than 130 scientific papers and book chapters, holds two patents for medical devices, and regularly gives scientific presentations at international conferences. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Gasser serves as a scientific advisor and member of the scientific advisory board of Medtronic Navigation, Louisville, United States. He is also a member of several professional societies, including the German Society of Neurosurgery, the World Congress of Neurological Surgeons (WCNS), and the World Society for Stereotaxy and Functional Neurosurgery (WSSFN). |
